LIFE TTGG Partner: OrIGin
The LIFE TTGG project “The tough get going” was co-funded by the European Environment and Climate Action Programme (Life 2014-2020). The objective of the project is to orient the development of the dairy sector towards an improvement in the production process efficiency, in order to guarantee its growth and preserve quality in the perspective of environmental sustainability.
In order to achieve the objective of improving the efficiency of the whole European PDO hard and semi-hard cheese production chain, the project involves 7 highly qualified partners: Consorzio tutela Grana Padano, Politecnico di Milano, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Piacenza, Fondazione Qualivita, oriGIn, Enersem and CNIEL.
Among these, oriGIn is the global alliance of Geographical Indications</strong> (GIs) from a large variety of sectors, representing today some 600 associations of producers and other GI-related institutions from 50 countries. oriGIn advocates for the effective legal protection and enforcement of GIs at the national, regional and international level, through campaigns aimed at decision-makers, the media and the public at large. oriGIn promotes GIs as a tool for sustainable development for producers and communities and facilitate the exchange of best practices.
Thanks to its international network, oriGIn participation in the LIFE TTGG project will facilitate the transfer of results to GI Groups and contribute to raise public awareness on the project outcomes to improve the supply chain efficiency and use of resources to respond to the challenges associated with sustainability. In particular oriGIn will:
• Facilitate data collection on production processes and environmental strategies
• Organize meetings with GIs producers and stakeholders at national and EU level
• Carry out communication and dissemination activities, including online events
